Week 3 is Here — Let’s Finish Those Blocks!

Welcome to Week 3 of the Staying Sharp Quilt Along!
This week is all about momentum. You’ve already done the hard part—learning the construction, getting your fabrics prepped, and getting those first blocks underway. Now it’s time to settle in, enjoy the rhythm of sewing, and start bringing your quilt together one block at a time!
And honestly? This is usually the week where the project really starts to feel real.
This Week’s Goal:
Finish All Blocks
Your focus this week is simply to keep sewing and complete all of your remaining blocks.
No fancy new techniques.
No stressful deadlines.
Just steady sewing and watching your project come to life 💛
If you’re behind a little, don’t panic—you are absolutely not alone. Quilt alongs are meant to be fun and flexible, so work at your own pace and enjoy the process.
Few Tips for Week 3
Since we’re in the repetitive sewing stage, this is actually the perfect time to slow down and focus on consistency.
As you finish each block, take the extra few seconds to press carefully.
A good press can:
- Sharpen points
- Help seams nest beautifully
- Keep your blocks laying flat
- Make final assembly SO much easier next week
And yes… steam is still your friend.
Trim As You Go
If your units need trimming, try not to save it all for the end. Doing a little trimming as you finish blocks keeps the process from becoming overwhelming later.
Future-you will thank you 😉
